G Suite Enterprise, announced this week, is Google Cloud premium office suite with features designed to better meet the needs of enterprise customers such as advanced controls, customisation using third party data and enterprise features.
This launch means that G Suite now comes in three different editions:- G Suite Basic - Professional office suite with 30GB storage
- G Suite Business - Enhanced office suite with unlimited storage and archiving
- G Suite Enterprise - Premium office suite with advanced controls and capabilities
The feature set of G Suite Enterprise will evolve, but here are the top features at the time of launch:
Drive DLP
Drive DLP allows admins control to stop users from accidentally or intentionally leaking data from Google Drive outside of their domain. Custom actions to warn the user, report to admin or to stop the sharing are available.
Gmail DLP
Gmail DLP allows admins control to stop users from accidentally or intentionally leaking data from Gmail outside of their domain. Custom actions to warn the user, report to admin or to stop the sharing are available.
Security key enforcement
Security key enforcement gives admins the ability to enforce a security key. This is a best-in-class security capability today since it not only adds 2nd factor authentication but also prevents codes from being phished over email, SMS or phone.
Hosted S/MIME encryption for Gmail
S/MIME support in Gmail will allow Gmail enterprise customers to enable encryption for all or some of their users and upload S/MIME public/private key pair(s). Gmail features like search, archiving with Vault, spam classification etc. work seamlessly with S/MIME since the uploaded private key is hosted by Google.
Email archiving with third-party solutions
This feature will allow customers to use Gmail with third party archiving tools like HP Autonomy or Veritas.
Gmail logs in BigQuery
Big data analytics on Gmail logs with full query customization, dashboards and API access.
